Welcome to the official website of the Societas Rosicruciana in Canada!
The Societas Rosicruciana in Canada was first mentioned in a declaration dated May 31, 1876, but it was not formally constituted until September 19 of that year under Charter from the Supreme Magus of Greece, M.W. Frater Prince Dimitrios Rodokanakis. Most of the membership came from the town of Maitland, Ontario. The society constituted a High Council one year later in September 1877. The Society was active throughout Ontario for over a decade but went into abeyance in 1889 following the death M.W. Frater McLeod Moore.
In 1936, Ontario College was created via a charter from the S.R.I.C.F. Edward H.D. Hall, a member of the Canadian Rosicrucian Society in 1870’s, was voted a charter member of the Ontario College. Ontario College S.R.I.C.F. continued to meet from 1936 until 1997. Due to restructuring within S.R.I.C.F. and following correspondence with the S.R.I.C.F. Secretary General it was recommended that the Canadian High Council S.R.I.C. be reconstituted. Consequently the High Council S.R.I.C. was duly reconstituted on June 29, 1997. The original Ontario College then became one of the S.R.I.C. Colleges and continues to meet as Ontario College S.R.I.C. The High Council S.R.I.C. is now an independent Sovereign body with Jurisdiction for Canada. The High Council has active Colleges in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan..
